Scheduled for 5 p.m. to midnight, this inaugural celebration will have live music, family activities, food vendors, “an early ball drop for the kids” at 8:30 p.m., and at midnight “a full-on fireworks show, the largest in the state, choreographed to music.”
Sapphire Valley, North Carolina
Appalachian Ski Mountain in Blowing Rock is planning a New Year’s Eve Extravaganza with moonlight skating, torchlight skiing, restaurant specials and fireworks at midnight.
Banner Elk, North Carolina
Separate family friendly and adults-only New Year’s Eve celebrations are planned at Beech Mountain Resort. For the families, starting at 7 p.m. in the lodge, there’ll be free bingo with lots of prizes, and a DJ spinning party tunes. From 10 p.m. to midnight pay $15 to skate under the stars, and food and drinks will be available for purchase. The night ends with a fantastic firework show at midnight. The grownups’ party starts at 7:30 p.m. and features live music, dancing, a free photo booth, drink specials and party favors. There’s a $10 per person cover charge. Hard Rock Cafe at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach always has a big bash for New Year’s Eve. From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. the fun includes live entertainment, a balloon drop, confetti cannons, an appetizer buffet at 11 p.m. and a simulcast from Times Square. General admission tickets are $35 in advance and $40 the day of the party.
